The card - white background piece is embossed, as is the gold foil piece underneath.  The die cut tree is cut out of the embossed white piece and the tree is added on top of the open cut out. part.    (this card is much prettier in real life - the gold foil doesn't photograph well)

Today's adventure - getting my second cataract surgery first thing this morning.  (right eye this time).  So excited to have this done and be able to see well out of both eyes!
