Project Sunday - Here is my 'new' black and white bedroom.  I made the macrame holder in the corner and the photos are some my daughter took in New Orleans when were there for Christmas one year.

Gotta say it was pretty quiet around here after Jeff picked Ethan up yesterday.  After having the boys here all week it felt just a bit lonely.  And even though they passed on some of their 'sickies' (just a bit of a cold though) I did manage to spend some time in the stamp room.  I also took a nap and went to the grocery store,!  A bit productive anyway!  So, today it's back to the stamp room and a bit of playing.

Have a great day!

Project Sunday - this is part of the 'house project' I was working on last week.  This used to be the guest room, now it's Hudson's room.  I decided to decorate it in 'Star Wars' so I made the curtains, blanket and pillows and ordered a few themed things from Amazon!

Today I plan to finish up the class projects while I watch the football game and then hopefully I'll still have enough energy left to make some peanut brittle.  It's going to be a busy week so I need to be productive!

Have a great day!

Project Sunday - a little more before and after.

BEFORE:  the back side of the house faces west.  Not pretty.  Putting up a privacy fence was really high on my list of priorities.

AFTER:  still a work in progress, but much better.  I need to get some umbrellas and do some decorating, but it's a pleasant place to be - and because it's all private I can be out here in my pj's!

Project Sunday - this is one of the 'projects' I have been working on the last couple of weeks.  When I moved I took the storage pieces from my old stamp room and put what would fit on this end wall of the stamp room/class room.  I knew it wasn't going to be my permanent arrangement, but it worked for the moment.  I had originally thought I would put cabinets and a counter top along that wall, but I decided to try the cubes from Michael's instead.

There is a total of 21 'cubes' that I put together - whew!  I am an expert at putting those things together now - ha ha!  But I do like it and they hold a ton of stuff.  Every thing that was in the other storage pieces fit in these, plus I think I still have 2 or 3 empty drawers!  I would love to have a pretty white filing cabinet so it would all match, but...... I guess I will live with what I have!

A little more before and after:  the guest room

Before:  This is the smallest bedroom - just enough room for a bed and not much else, but it will work fine for a guest room.

After:  a bit of a hodgepodge of stuff.  The stands by the bed are very old stands that belonged to my grandparents at one time - they don't match, but what the heck, they work for sitting lamps on :)

The closet in this room is really small, almost the same size as the hall closet and has never had a door on it.  So, I added the bench and some ribbed paneling, a shelf with a little decoration and a clothes rod just in case guests have clothes that need to be hung up.    The round table in the corner is another piece that belonged to my grandmother.

The hall closet - this was just an ordinary coat closet in the hallway - took the door off, added some ribbed paneling on the back, a bench, some hooks and a shelf and presto - a mini mud room.

Hard to believe it's the first of February - but now it's another month closer to spring!  I didn't think the snow would ever stop yesterday - it snowed for close to 30 hours. Luckily it warmed up a bit so it was melting and not accumulating as much-  thank goodness.  Have so many things to get done this coming week that I guess I better figure out where to start and try to accomplish something today :)

Have a wonderful day!

Before and after - the laundry/sewing/utility/storage room

Before - ugh - dark brown paneling and cupboards and orange kitchen carpet that had been in there from the time we added this room to the house in 1976.

After:  a little paint, new floor and a new window made a big difference.  The laundry area had some folding doors and I removed those to leave that area open.

A little more before and after:  the living room

Before:  the original window (from 1954), carpet that was at least 20 years old, screen door falling apart, the wall on the right is bright green

After:  new window - new door - new floor.  It's small, but functional.  The tv was a biggie for me, as the one I had was probably 30 years old - an old console tv.   This was another room that got downsized big time - I had to get rid of a big coffee table, plus a love seat and recliner that matched the sofa.  But it's what I call 'cozy' and works just fine for me!

Before and after:  this was the largest bedroom so I decided to use this room for my office/wool room.  Jeff came over and helped me get the shelves put in the closet this week so I was finally able to get all my wool goodies put away and accessible!

An on-going project..... if you remember how packed to the ceiling this garage was just a few weeks ago, this is definitely an improvement.  My car is in the garage and the pile of stuff only takes up half now!  That's progress!  I actually have new garage doors now too.

Started putting up the Christmas decorations yesterday.... I'm hoping to finish that up this morning and maybe have some time to stamp this afternoon - woo hoo!

Enjoy your day!

Before and after.....the bathroom
We call this 'the bathroom from h*ll because there seemed to be problem with everything we tried to do in here.  For such a small room it caused more problems than any other room in the house.  Poor Jeff - he was fit to be tied before we finally got it done!

Project Sunday - the new classroom/stamp room.

This was my project yesterday.  It still needs a lot of work -but the basics are in there.  There's still lots to put away, organize and find a place for - thank goodness for the storage in the garage (when I can get to it!)  This is probably the area where I have to 'downsize' the most.

Enjoy your day!

Before and after..........the kitchen is probably the room that looks the most different.  I would have liked to have been able to get new kitchen cabinets but that didn't quite fit into the budget.  So....I just had them painted.   One day soon I will add some bright, colorful decorations....but for now just getting stuff put away will suffice.

Project Sunday - um...this is what happens when you don't get rid of enough stuff before you move.  The entire garage is full - I had them leave me little aisles between the stacks :)  It's going to take forever to get this stuff organized!  It will definitely be an on-going project for some time.

It's been quite the weekend.  But I'm really liking my 'new' house!  I think I'm going to be very comfortable here.

I have to say a BIG THANK YOU to Deb, Judy S, Emily, Ann and Patsy for helping with moving stuff!  They were awesome!  And Deb and Judy came back on moving day and helped even more!  You guys are the best!!!!!

We have a bit of cleaning up to do at the other house today and then I can get back to unpacking.  I'm beginning to think that is going to be a much bigger job than packing was.  Trying to fit 2800 sq feet of stuff into 1600 sq feet is going to be quite a challenge!  Yep, time to get rid of even more stuff :)

Have a wonderful day!

Project Sunday - this has been my 'project' for this week.

This first picture is what the garage looked like after Jeff took some of the old cabinets out and before it was painted.

While I was having fun stitching at Laura's yesterday, Jeff was working away at the house in town.  There's a new top on that counter, knobs on the doors, and he put those new storage cabinets together.  The new cabinets will be storage for all the 'extra' class and stamping supplies.  (I may have to get a couple more of those!)

Today I will be going in to hose down the floor and then I will be able to start moving some misc stuff that can be put in here until I get the inside of the house finished.

Enjoy your day!
