Photo Saturday - I was trying to be a little 'artsy' with this one. Photo was taken in Yosemite National Park.

Today is crop day with those wild and crazy "Good Time Girls'. It will be fun - it always is.

Have a super day.

Have a wonderful day.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

The card - marina mist and pear pizzazz - loving this color combo! Stamped images are from papertrey.

More yard work today - didn't get quite as much done yesterday as I planned - the heat got to me after only a couple of hours. So....it's back out there again today and hopefully I can finish trimming the bushes before it hits 100! Class tonight.

Happy stampin'

Enjoy your day!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Scrappin Sunday - another 'oldie, but goodie'. These mosaic layouts were quite popular for a while. I did this page in 2001. They were a bit time consuming - cutting all those 1 inch squares and getting them lined up straight was quite the adventure. But an interesting look when finished.

I had quite the card making marathon yesterday - spent the entire day in my room - played with a lot of the new SU colors and got several cards done. Yea! Now today it's time to clean up the mess and get kits cut and bagged for classes this coming week.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Photo Saturday - sunrise this morning. (just a few minutes ago actually)

Today - I am going to spend the day stamping. That's the plan anyway. My creativeness (is that a word?) has been missing this week and I am feeling the need to put something together that I actually like. So......we'll see what happens.

A new reader ask the other day what camera I use. My main camera is a Canon Powershot S5IS. I have a Canon PowerShot SD880 Elph that I carry in my purse. Both take great pictures and I have been happy with both cameras. But..........I still want a Canon Rebel XSI........I had a Canon Rebel film camera and loved it, just haven't had the extra cash to buy a digital one!

Have a wonderful day!

Friday, July 9, 2010

The card - flower is from SU (Because I Care). Image is stamped in black, flower is colored with Brocade Blue, leaves are olive. The flower is cut out and popped up. Background is sizzix (Tim Holtz) embossing folder.

Today - um.....not sure what my plan is for today. Lots to do, just not sure what I'm in the mood for. Guess I'll figure it out after a little more caffeine. (or not) I know I'm looking forward to our Friday night get-together - hopefully I will be more productive than last week!

Happy stampin'

Thursday, July 8, 2010

The card - super simple - flower is from Hero Arts. Sentiment is from Printworks. Colors are white and coral. Background embossing folder is from Cuttlebug.

Shoebox tonight so I need to get my card kits together. Think it's time to do some laundry too!

Happy stampin'

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

The card - flower stamp is from SU. I stamped it twice, once on the kraft and then again on white. I colored the flower stamped on white, cut it out and popped it up. (it's colored with Hydrangea Blue Copic marker) Background printed paper is from 7 Gypsies.

A few errands this morning (including getting a haircut) and then I am hoping to get inspired and get my card done for Shoebox tomorrow night. (wouldn't that be something - I'd be a day ahead!)

Have a great day!

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

The card - stamps are from SU. Colors are melon mambo and white. Border punch is from EK Success.

Working on class projects today. Hopefully I will be more motivated today than I was yesterday - the day went by and I didn't get much of anything accomplished.

Have a great day!

Monday, July 5, 2010

The card - not much stamping on this one - trying to use up some of my patterned paper.

Class tonight and I have to get the kits cut and bagged. Maybe I can even get myself motivated to get started on class projects for next week.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Photo Saturday - sunset picture taken at Country Jam last weekend.

Grocery shopping today - need to get the stuff for our BBQ tomorrow and hopefully get a head start on some food preparation. Maybe some time for a little stamping too! (that would be good since Sherry is the only one that got anything done last night - Deb & I ended up sitting and chatting the whole time!)

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Friday, July 2, 2010

The card - flower is from Hero Arts - stamped on printed paper, cut out and popped up. Sentiment is from Papertrey. Grass is from A Muse. Printed paper is Basic Grey.

Have a great day!

Thursday, July 1, 2010

The card - stamped images are from Papertrey. Label shape is from nestabilities. I've had this card done for a while but couldn't find the right size of black buttons - finally found some in Delta (go figure!)

Well I've put it off long enough - today I really must get some yard work done! I do have Stamp Club with Sherry to look forward to tonight though - so there will be something fun today!

Happy stampin'

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

The card - sweet scoops (SU) background swirls are embossing folder from sizzix (Tim Holtz) Colors are chocolate, pretty in pink and white.

Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

The card - not a lot of stamping on this one. Sentiment is from SU, flower is Prima. Colors are kraft and white - easy!

Errands today and hopefully some time to work on class projects. I spent the entire day yesterday working on ideas for Tracy's wedding invitations - now I will have to wait for some feed back before I can go any further with that.

Happy stampin'

Monday, June 28, 2010

The card - flower is from Hero Arts. I stamped the flower on 4 different pieces of paper (Basic Grey), cut the petals out and attached them over the original one - then cut that one out and popped it up. The leaves were also stamped on a piece of Basic Grey green and cut out. Background is embossed with cuttlebug embossing folder. Embellishment on twill is from my stash of Tim Holtz stuff.

Lots to do this week - yard work, class projects, Tracy's wedding invites........... Not sure what I'm going to start with (yard work is at the bottom of my list, but probably should be at the top)

Have a fabulous day!

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Scrappin' Sunday - a blast from the past. This is an old layout - about 11 years old in fact. But it's always been one of my favorites. I went through a phase when I was doing a lot of paper piecing (it was the thing back in the day) - the ice cream sundae and hamburger were done using a picture from a coloring book. Yep, I did used to be rather creative!

Oh my - what a great time we had yesterday. This is Judy S and I at Country Jam USA! I had forgotten just how much I love to hear live music (and very loud live music at that!) Jake Owen was good, Clay Walker was awesome, Miranda Lambert, um...not so much! We had great seats - best time I've had in a long time. (I really need to get out more!) A BIG thanks to Emily for giving me those tickets!!!!!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Photo Saturday - a quick shot of the moon last night. The clouds were moving really fast and I only got this one shot before the cloud covered it completely.

Judy S and I are having a big adventure today - we're going to Country Jam - yee haw! I was going to break out my cowboy hat and boots (yes, I really do have some!) but Judy said she wouldn't go with me if I wore them. What a spoil sport (LOL!) Didn't want to tell her I wouldn't have worn them anyway - it's way too hot! Anyway, it should be an interesting day.

Enjoy your day!

Friday, June 25, 2010

The card - stamped image is from SU - image is stamped with black, colored with grey, a touch of saffron and olive. Accent piece is saffron.

My stamp room has gotten a little messy - ok, a lot messy - so I'm going to get that straightened up today. Maybe a little yard work too.

Happy stampin'

Thursday, June 24, 2010

The card - clock stamp is from SU - background is new clock works embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Colors are kraft and suede. I added some Tim Holtz goodies from my stash.

Great fun yesterday - yummy lunch, and to-die-for Cold Stone Creamery ice cream - Thanks Emily!

Yard work today! Not so much fun, but have some dead bushes I need to deal with.

Have a great day!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

The card - flowers are from Hero Arts. Images were stamped with black and colored - the top two were cut out and popped up. Sentiment is from Endless Creations. Colors are pink pirouette and cameo coral.

Going to lunch with Emily today - woo hoo - another birthday celebration.

Have a great day!

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

The card - background is the Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder (Sizzix). I used the same technique on this one as I did on the brick. The leaves are embossed with gold.

Yard work today - I never got around to it yesterday, so no excuses today! Class tonight.

Enjoy your day!

Monday, June 21, 2010

The card - Judy S did a cool card with this flower stamp at Shoebox - she brought it over for me to play with and this is one of the cards I did with it. Background ledger stamp is from Unity - flower is from Hero Arts. The flower is stamped on printed paper, cut out and popped up. Sentiment is from Papertrey. Card stock is vanilla, kraft and black.

My yard needs attention so I'm trying to talk myself into working on that today. We'll see.....for some reason my energy level is not real high this morning. Maybe after a few more classes of tea.

Happy stampin'

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Scrappin' Sunday - the last of the pictures from our trip to Ohio. This was our sight-seeing day with Tony. I wanted to keep the flyer (on the right) so I attached a clear envelope and put the flyer in that - now it can be removed easily to read.

Well, my birthday week was great fun (and thanks to everyone for the birthday greetings) but now I guess it's time to get some work done. The yard and household chores are calling for my attention.

Have a happy day!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Photo Saturday - the roses were all looking so pretty until that awful wind blew through the other day. Think I need to get out and do a little clean up on the poor things.

Thanks to Sherry and Deb for a great birthday celebration last night - great food! (thanks Sherry) and awesome gifts. I do love birthdays!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Friday, June 18, 2010

The card - stamped image is from Sweet Scoops (SU) Colors are melon mambo and white. The embellishment at the top of the tag is from 7 Gypsies.

Had a very relaxing day yesterday - it was good! Jeff & Sara took me to dinner (Outback) - yummy! One more birthday celebration tonight - my friend Sherry is cooking dinner and we are doing our weekly get-together at her house. Looking forward to that!

Have a great day!

Thursday, June 17, 2010

The card - another 'brick wall' card. Same technique as the one from the other day. This is the card I did for our Shoebox Club last week.

My thanks to Judy S for a wonderful day yesterday! It was great fun and I came home with a bag full of new goodies to play with. (my birthday treat to myself! - plus some great birthday treats from Judy!) That's my plan for today - to play with some of those new goodies! I do have to do a bit of work today - I have a class tonight so I will need to get things set up for that. But other than that I am going to spend the day 'playing'!

Have an extra special day!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

The card - stamped image is from Papertrey. Image is stamped in black, then colored - I actually used Copic markers (I only have a few, but have to say they are pretty nice!) I added some flower soft in the grass. Colors are kraft and black.

Today - a birthday trip (celebrating a day early) with Judy S. We're having a play day - going to Delta to the scrapbook store and lunch at Davitos. Oh yea!

Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

The card - stamped images are from SU (Watercolor Trio) inked with markers - celery and pretty in pink. Card is bashful blue & brocade blue. Ribbon is celery.

Yard work today - I've put it off long enough, now I have a lot to do! Had a great time with Deb at Stamp Club last night - great projects - thanks Deb!

Happy stampin'

Monday, June 14, 2010

The card - I am in love with this 'brick' embossing folder by Tim Holtz (Sizzix). To get this effect I stamped the image first on a piece of white card stock. Then I inked the embossing folder by rubbing an ink pad over the inside of the folder (just the bottom side). I then placed my stamped image facing down on the inked folder and ran it through the cuttlebug. Pretty cool, huh? Leaf stamp is from Hero Arts.

My plans for the week were to get some yard work done - doesn't look like that's going to work out today - it's pretty wet from the rain and still looks like more rain. That's OK though - we needed the rain and I don't mind putting off the yard work! So, maybe some stamping time today! (I have lots more embossing folders to play with)

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday, June 13, 2010

Scrappin' Sunday - this is the page I did yesterday while croppin' with The Good Time Girls (Karen, Sue, Tamara - we missed you Kelly & Eileen) Pictures are from Tracy's graduation last month. The stamped images on this layout are from SU.
Someone asked for the recipe for chicken & noodles the other day so here it is...........
Chicken & Noodles: Warning - this is NOT a low fat meal! (and it won't taste the same if you try to make it low-fat)
Homemade noodles (yep, I make the noodles - they're easy- honest!)

Beat until very light......
3 egg yolks
1 whole egg
Beat in.......
3 tbsp. cold water
1 tsp salt
Stir in and work in with hands........
2 cups flour
Divide dough into 3 parts.
I use a pasta machine to roll out and cut the noodles. Just follow the directions for the machine. I like my noodles a little thicker so I only roll them through to the next to last number. (my machine is very old so I roll them out to #5 - the highest number is #6) After I roll them out I cover each side of the strips with flour before I cut them into noodles. I spread the cut noodles on a flour sack dish cloth and let them dry for several hours. (I sometimes make them the night before)
Cook chicken ( I use 3 breasts and 3 thighs, but you can use a whole chicken). I cover the chicken with water, add a little salt and boil for about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Remove chicken from broth, let cool and cut chicken into bite size pieces.
Cook the noodles in the chicken broth (I usually add a lg can of Swansons chicken broth to the pot), add the cut-up chicken during the last few minutes of cooking. (it takes longer for the thicker noodles to cook, so I usually start them about an hour before serving.)
Serving - this part is very important!
We eat our chicken and noodles on top of mashed potatoes. (yep, I know........ I have friends who call it the starch dinner!) It's important to use real mashed potatoes (using real milk, none of that low fat stuff and real butter! ) Also, it's best to make the potatoes thicker than usual (not much milk). So...........here's how it works.......... you place a big pile of mashed potatoes on your plate, then add butter (yep, more butter), then add a big helping of noodles right over the top of the potatoes. (don't get too much broth in with the noodles - it will make you potatoes all runny!)For some reason they never come out even, so you may need to add more noodles as you go!
1 batch of noodles serves about 6 - 8. (I barely had enough for 6 the other night though when there were 3 guys & 3 of us ladies)
I serve this meal with french bread ( I know....more starch) and either Caesar salad or fruit.
YUMMMY!
I tried using store bought noodles one time, but it just wasn't the same. This was my favorite meal growing up and my Dad used to make it for me every year for my birthday until he passed away. He didn't have a pasta machine so he rolled the noodles out with a rolling pin and cut the noodles by hand. I actually did it that way too until I got the pasta machine......oh so much easier!
Give it a try.........and let me know how you like it!

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Photo Saturday - anyone know what kind of birds these are? Are they doves? They were circling around my yard the other day and I only noticed them because they were all white. (lots of birds around here, but I very seldom see a white one) Then they landed on the roof in this nice little row - took off and circled around some more, then landed again. It was rather fascinating to watch.

A crop day today! The Good Time Girls are coming. I'm hoping to finish up the pictures from Ohio. It will be a good day!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Friday, June 11, 2010

The card - stamped images are from SU (Sweet Scoops) Sentiment is from Papertrey. Colors are chocolate, pink pirouette and white.

Shoebox was great fun last night - great projects! And we celebrated my birthday (a week early) so that made it even more fun! Thanks to Celisa, Judy and Alison for the great gifts, awesome cards and the yummy rootbeer floats!

Need to get myself organized for a crop day tomorrow then I think I may spend some time stamping - have the new Tim Holtz embossing folders to play with. More stamping tonight with friends - yea!

Have a wonderful day!

Thursday, June 10, 2010

The card - stamped image is from Hero Arts. Butterfly is die cut (SU) out of vellum. Colors are suede and white.

Tonight is Shoebox and of course I don't have any idea what I'm doing for a project - so I guess I better make that my priority for the day. (I was really lazy yesterday and didn't even think about it)

Someone mentioned posting the recipe for chicken & noodles the other day - I will try to do that in the day or so.

Enjoy your day!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

The card - stamped images are from A Muse. Label shape is from Nestabilities. Background is embossed with SU folder (square lattice). Colors are eggplant, olive, & white.

I think I may just take an r & r day today. I don't have anything pressing that needs to be done and I have no plan so......... maybe some stamping (I do need to get a project done for Shoebox tomorrow night!) I do have to get things ready for class tonight, but that's it!

Dinner was great fun last night - I'm not sure those guys even tasted what they were eating - they were so wound up about their fishing trip that was all they talked about. It was quite entertaining - they were like a group of little boys that could hardly contain their excitement - and we're talking 35 year old guys here! Somehow it just made me happy to listen to them!

Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

The card - another hybrid card. The floral image was printed on the computer using the Summer Spendor download from SU's MDS. I stamped the sentiment and added some pearls. The mat around the image is black, outer mat is saffron, card is white.

It's going to be a crazy day - class this morning, then I have to go pick Tony (Tracy's fiance) up at the airport. He is coming from Ohio to go fishing with Jeff. Then I will cook dinner (chicken & noodles) for the fishing crew and then another class after that! Whew!

Have a fabulous day!

The card - stamped images are from A Muse. Pattern paper is Basic Grey.

I really have to get downstairs today and clean up the mess I made - everything that didn't go back in the closet is piled all over down there. And I have class tomorrow night so I at least need to get the tables cleared off.

Enjoy your day!

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Scrappin' Sunday - Here's the layout I did of Jeff shaving his head on St Patrick's Day. (those wallet size photos sure do come in handy when you have a lot of pictures you want to use!)

Watering the lawn, laundry, working on class projects and ????? Plenty to do! Hopefully Judy S will be coming to stamp this afternoon so I will have a good excuse to play!

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend.
